Remembering Gunnar Hansen: A Horror Icon

I'm so grateful that I was able to meet and speak with Gunnar Hansen, who played "Leatherface" in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", before he passed back in 2014. I spoke to him in Charlotte, North Carolina.  While there, he put on the Leatherface costume again for the first time in nearly 40 years to take photos with fans during a convention. He said it was an overall different feeling wearing it this time.

We discussed how the circumstances were certainly different back then. It was more raw back in the 70s when he had it on for 12+ hours at a time while filming and out in the hot sun with a small crew. Being around hundreds of fans in an air conditioned hotel in the city is a bit different environment.

He stated, "Maybe I wasn't born for that role". I believe he played it like he was.

He was also gracious enough to let me grab a quick portrait shot.

It was an honor speaking to this horror legend one on one. I'm forever grateful for his contribution to the horror genre and to the fans.
